Study Abroad Faculty-led Program Information Session: Iowa Hispanic Institute promotional image

Learn more about this faculty-led program designed to improve your written and spoken Spanish and enhance your understanding of Spanish culture and life in Spain. The program offers five weeks of academic instruction and one week of independent travel. The program is led by Becky Gonzalez, assistant professor of Spanish and Portuguese in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Location: Valladolid, Spain

Program dates: Friday, May 22 – Saturday, July 4, 2026

Application deadline: February 27, 2026

In addition, all participants enroll in the one-credit course Life in Spain taught by Professor Gonzalez which is designed to prepare you for the required week of independent travel at the end of the program. In conjunction with this course, you will write a series of reflective essays about Spanish culture and your study abroad experience.
