Graduate students María Márquez Ponce and María Marroquín Pérez recently hosted a Día de los Muertos celebration and movie viewing event for university students in the Spanish GEP program. Students engaged with the tradition through an interactive exploration of the ofrenda that's set up in the CLCL. Students also enjoyed hot chocolate and snacks while watching a screening of Disney's "Coco," providing a visual and emotional connection to the cultural practices of Día de los Muertos. Overall, this event at the CLCL significantly enriched our students' cultural understanding of the traditional Mexican holiday, and strengthened the sense of community within our university.
