Ánderson Villalba is a Colombian writer and journalist. He holds a BA in Spanish and Literature from the Universidad Industrial de Santander and an MA in Journalism from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá. He is currently an Iowa Arts Fellow in the MFA in Spanish Creative Writing at the University of Iowa.

His work explores the intersections of literature, journalism, archives, history, and biography. Before coming to Iowa, he worked as a researcher at the Banco de la República’s Virtual Library in Colombia, contributing to projects on literary heritage and the history of the press. He has also worked with the Bogotá public library system and at Universidad de los Andes, where he taught journalism.

As a journalist, he has written for and collaborated with Colombian media including La Silla Vacía, El Espectador, Vanguardia, Cambio, and Cerosetenta, covering politics, migration, the environment, culture, and social issues. His interests include narrative and cultural journalism, digital humanities, cultural heritage, audiovisual production, podcasts, and digital storytelling.
