Rodrigo Bacigalupe Echevarría is a Uruguayan writer, scholar, and professor. He is currently an Iowa Arts Fellow in the MFA in Spanish Creative Writing at the University of Iowa. His poetry has received the First Prize in the Intendencia de Colonia Literary Competition for Cuaderno celeste (2023) and the Carlos Martínez Moreno First Prize in Poetry (2014).

He holds a PhD in Spanish from the University of Salamanca, where his doctoral dissertation focused on the fiction of Rafael Reig and Antonio Orejudo. His academic work centers on contemporary Spanish literature, with particular interests in narrative, temporality, memory, and the relationship between literature and history.

He is currently pursuing postdoctoral research at the University of Buenos Aires.

He teaches language and literature at the Universidad de la República in Uruguay. His creative work encompasses poetry, fiction, and literary nonfiction and explores memory, displacement, everyday experience, and the dialogue between literary tradition and contemporary life.
